Strength training for beginners · BGC
Coached strength classes where every movement is taught, every load is scaled to you, and nobody expects you to know what you're doing yet.
Your first weeks
Sit down with a coach, in person or by phone. Talk through your goals, your schedule and any old injuries. No pressure to join.
Your coach shows you every movement and picks a starting weight with you. You'll learn the basics (squat, hinge, push, pull, carry) properly from day one.
STRONG classes follow a progressive plan, so the weights go up a little at a time. Most beginners feel the difference in their first month.
Women's strength training
Many of our members are women who had never lifted before TLC. Classes are mixed, coached at every level, and built around getting stronger, not bulkier. Strength training helps build bone health, posture and confidence that carries into everyday life.
Starting later in life
Members start in their 40s, 50s and beyond. Coaches adjust movements around your mobility and old injuries, and progress you at your pace. Strength is one of the best investments you can make for the decades ahead.

Not on its own. Getting very muscular takes years of specific training and eating. For most people, strength training builds a stronger, leaner, more capable body.
